1099-B, Schedule D and 8949

I have a mutual fund that needs an entry on schedule D with an 8949 form. I am trying to generate the schedule D but every time I go into interview mode, it will not ask me anything about the losses as per the below:

  1. Open your return.
  2. Select the Personal tab, then Personal Income.
  3. Select I'll choose what I work on the right.
  4. Select Start or Update to the right of Stocks, Cryptocurrency, Bonds, Mutual Funds, Other.
  5. Answer the first question Yes, or if you already sales here  select Add more sales.
  6. Select the Other tile, then Continue.
  7. Enter the information on the next few screens according to your situation.
  8. Enter Liquidation distribution as the name, then select Continue.
  9. For type, select Stock, unless one of the other descriptors is more accurate.
  10. Answer the rest of the questions on the screen according to your situation, then select Continue.
  11. Select None of these apply, then Continue.
  12. Answer the last question based on the length of ownership.

I do have the 1099B worksheet, but when I look at the schedule D, the name of the fund doesn't show?

I think it is a bug you can't do the 8949 directly.

The name of the fund should not show on the schedule D.  It should show on the 8949.

On the desktop program, in forms view, you can work pretty closely to the 8949.  That may be what you want to try.

The online web-based editions do not have forms view.  Only the desktop editions have forms view by click on Forms at the top of the desktop program screen.

I have the desktop version.  It doesn't allow me to open the 8949 which is a bug I have read about here.  When I try to open the 8949, I get Create new copy form 8949 is created automatically based on schedule D input.  I loaded the data in a 1099B worksheet for now.
