I filed both my 2020 & 2021 income tax returns with Turbo Tax Online. I used the Deluxe version. I received an email for both years saying the Federal & State were accepted. Towards the bottom of the email, it said that if I wanted a copy of the return for my records that it would be best if I printed or downloaded it by mid October of that year. Does Turbo Tax hold a copy for 7 years online or will it delete them before then? I can still pull up the 2020 return online, but it is 156 pages so I do not want to print or download it. I also feel more secure having it online only. What is your answer?

Turbotax will keep your returns for 7 years. So no need to worry just yet. However, its always advisable to have everything backed up. You never know what might happen. I totally understand not wanting to print all that out. However, you have other options such as backing them up somewhere else online. Many people use Google Drive, or Dropbox. If you're not comfortable with that option, you can get a usb stick or portable hard drive that can be password protected, and store all your vital documents there. No rush to decide, as you do have the 7 years, but it is definitely something important to consider.
Currently returns from 2015 and later are accessible in TurboTax. From your Tax Home screen, scroll down and select Your tax returns & documents. Select the year you want, then select Download/print return (PDF).
If you used the Online version you should always save both the PDF file and the tax data file each year (before online closes Oct. 15) so you have a copy when you need it like for a loan or if you ever need to amend it in the future. You shouldn't rely on getting a copy from Turbo Tax. Or if you want to use the Desktop program next year so you can transfer from this year.
