Two home offices - do we both claim the full amt for things like repairs and maint, utilities,etc. and let turbo tax allocate the deduction based on square footage?

I thought our accountant used to split the amounts between the home offices. Should we each claim half and then take the deduction based on square footage?

Yes, if you have two home offices in separate spaces of your home, enter the total for shared expenses to allow TurboTax to allocate each portion based on square footage.

If you share the same home office, divide the space between the two businesses using whatever method seems reasonable. Then enter the total as before.

Not all tax software will allocate these costs for you, which may have been the case in the past.
