My son finished his college degree in 2019, so we claimed him as a dependent on our 2019 tax return. He did not attend school in 2020, so he will not be a dependent on our 2020 tax return. He has not yet filed his 2020 taxes, and the third Covid stimulus checks have already started to be sent out.
I did a trial run of his 2020 taxes in TurboTax, and was glad to see that TT includes the $1800 for the first two Covid stimulus checks in my son's Federal refund. My wife and I will not get a third stimulus check due to the phase-out, so we will also not get the "dependent" stimulus check. However, my son qualifies for the check, but again, he has not yet filed his 2020 taxes. Will TurboTax software be updated to include the third Covid stimulus check in situations that apply, like this one? If so, do you have an estimate of when?
Thank you.

The 2020 federal tax return cannot be used for the third stimulus payment. That is sent by the IRS directly to the taxpayer - https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment
Thanks! We filed my son's Federal return and he got his refund, which included the amounts for the first 2 stimulus checks. A week later, he received his 3rd stimulus check.
