We had our baby on September 18th 2020 and filed him in our taxes however we were eligible for the child tax credit so now he is 10 months and since we didn’t qualify we are getting the 300 monthly payment that we could sure use. How do we change it since we’ve had him for wel over 6 months to get the child tax monthly it’s payment?

You can go to the IRS portal to manage your advance payments. The ability to update some information may not be available until later in the summer.
Hi EddieOthon,
To add to what John posted -
It sounds like there may have been an error in how you filed your 2020 tax return. A baby born in 2020 should generally qualify for the Child Tax Credit assuming they meet the other requirements. The fact that you say you didn't qualify for CTC suggests you may have entered something incorrectly.. If that's the case you should look at amending your 2020 taxes - if you claim the CTC you will receive an additional refund. Possibly as much as $1500 additional (the CTC is up to $2000 per child and Other Dependent Credit is a max of $500). Due to the IRS backlog, an amendment you send now might not be processed in time to trigger the advance credit payments, but if not, you can claim the full CTC on your 2021 return. Hope this helps!
Thanks NatetheGreat. Good catch.
That could be possible I’ve never filed for a kid though. but I did just follow the prompts I could have got something I don’t remember being asked about child tax credit in any deduction page. Where would it be located at. I even looked into amending suspecting that same thing however while do so I still found nothing about child tax credit
EddieOthon,
If there was an error, it would be something in the input of the dependent. Perhaps you said that the child didn't live with you the entire year, or accidentally checked the box that said their Social Security Number is not valid for employment. Those are both easy mistakes to make that would disqualify your child from getting CTC. You don't have to do anything else to specifically claim the Child Tax Credit in TurboTax - it will be automatically applied by TurboTax when you enter a dependent that qualifies for it.
If you can't figure out what's wrong you could also try deleting the dependent and re-entering them.
If you have TurboTax Live, I would suggest contacting one of our Tax Experts via this link https://support.turbotax.intuit.com/contact/ or by logging into your TurboTax account and selecting the Live Help option. That will enable them to help you find and correct the issue so you can file an amendment and get the refund you are entitled to.
