Hello Expect for the last year and this year its kind of surprising that we both owed the FED around $7k of Fed Tax. Though it was just my wife who had a salary increase from 2022 and in 2023 both of us had salary increase.
Anyway this year while prepping our taxes again using TT, We ended up paying $7K in fed tax again and on TT explanation why do I owe $7K?
Turbo tax said" Your filing status is married filing jointly and your income came from wages of $175,xxx for you and $96,xxx for your spouse for total wages of $272,xxx... and I was like this is so wrong. Our total wages is only $175,xxx (both me and my wife) why did TT added another $96,xxx (my wife's wages) to our total wages which is $175,xxx??? This thing didn't prompt me last year I filed and ended paying the FED w/ $7K extra taxes.
Please help.
Thank you.

Look in Federal>wages & Income --- it sounds like you entered one of the W-2's twice and you need to delete one of the entries.
Go back and delete all the W2s and re enter them manually. Be sure to assign each one to the right spouse.
It's easy to remove a W-2.
To Add a W2 enter it under
Federal Taxes on the left side
Wages & Income
Then Wages and Salaries- Click the Start or Update button
Then if you are married you should have 2 buttons...Add w-2 for (taxpayer name) and Add w-2 for (spouse name). Click on the correct button to add a W-2.
