In New Hampshire, you can deduct the Municipal Fees portion of your vehicle registration fees.
If you are itemizing and deducting Car Registration Fees, it makes a difference in what state you are paying those fees.
Many states annual car registration fees include a "property tax" component - that portion of the fee is deductible.
In other states, there is no "property tax" component in car registration fees, and no deduction is allowed.
If I never itemized before do I have to itemize our cars? Also there is a line 14 that was automatly filled in which says 1728.00FFSELF , I know what it is but keeps saying there is something still missing on that line 14. I can't get any answers for it.
No, If you don't plan to exceed $12,400 as a single filer there is no need to enter anything for the car registration, or any other itemized deductions.
I'm not sure what 1728.00FFSELF means. Perhaps if you entered 1728.00 and no letters after that.
