Why is Turbo Tax indicating I qualify for the Home Energy Credit of $2,000 but then this credit is not included in my final refund amount?

The credit is a nonrefundable tax credit and may only be used to decrease or eliminate your tax liability.

You can't get back more on the credit than you owe in taxes. 

Your federal tax liability amount is found on Form 1040 (line 24).

To preview your 1040:

1. Select Tax Tools from the menu (if you don't see this, select the menu icon in the upper-left corner).
2. With the Tax Tools menu open, you can then:
3. Select Tools.
4.  Next, select View Tax Summary in the pop-up, then Preview my 1040 in the left menu.
