Why is there an amount in "Excess Real Estate Taxes" from last year that equals the amount I paid in Insurance?

I just did my 2018 taxes in October, and I remember coming to this part in the Home Office section, and thinking that I had mistakenly entered my insurance twice. Why does TT have that number in there? And, I paid $3316 in real estate taxes, so it seems that I should have zero excess real estate taxes, right?

This is correct. You should not have excess real estate taxes. You may wish to contact Turbo Tax phone support to address this specific issue. Phone support will have the ability to look at your return and identify the discrepancy.

This bug still exists! in the 2023 tax year program (Home & Business edition), under Business Income and Expenses > Home Office Expenses > Expenses for entire home, it reports the incorrect amount for my 2022 Excess Real Estate Taxes; that amount is equal to my 2022 Insurance.
