Where to enter property (real estate) taxes paid at closing on the sale of my primary home.

I sold my primary home in 2023.   At closing and as part of closing costs, I paid a prorated amount of the property taxes from Jan 1 to the closing date of the sale.  Are these property taxes deductible?  Where do I enter the dollar amount paid?

Yes, the property taxes paid at closing are deductible as an itemized deduction.

In TurboTax Online, you can enter your property taxes by following these steps:

  1. Open your tax return
  2. Click on Federal in the left-hand column, then on Deductions & Credits
  3. Locate the section Your Home and click on the arrow on the right
  4. Click Start next to Property (Real estate) Taxes.
