Are you self-employed? You are posting from online Deluxe, which does not provide a Schedule C on which you can enter business expenses. If you are self employed you are going to need online Premium or any version of the CD/download in order to enter mileage or any other business expenses.
If you are a W-2 employee, there are no federal deductions for mileage.
W-2 employees cannot deduct job-related expenses on a federal return. Job-related expenses were eliminated as a federal deduction for W-2 employees by the tax laws that changed for 2018 and beyond. Your state tax laws might be different in AL, AR, CA, HI, MN, NY or PA.
If you live in a state that lets you deduct job-related expenses, the information will flow from your federal return to the state return, so enter it in Federal>Deductions and Credits>Employment Expenses>Job-Related Expenses
Edit the business/topic that the vehicle is being used in ( "Self-employment" or "Rental"). Review the business and you will see the "Expenses" section.
If you have already entered a vehicle expense, it will be there and you can edit it. If vehicle is not listed, "Add expenses" and scroll to the "Vehicle" topic. Select the box and continue.
Now "Vehicle" will show as an expense topic and you can edit it.
