If you do not itemize your deductions, TurboTax will automatically enter the standard deduction on your return. You do not have to do anything in particular.

Here the program will tell you both the amount of your Standard Deduction as well as your Itemized Deduction amounts

The program will suggest the deduction method that is best for your situation. 

If you have CASH DONATIONS and take the STANDARD DEDUCTION, the final deduction amount will be the amount listed as Standard Deductions PLUS the amount of CASH donations you report, up to 600 Married Filing Jointly and 300 all others. 

The Cash Donation for filers taking the standard deduction is added later in the program. 

If you Itemize, the cash deductions are already included on your Schedule A and no additional amount is added.
