Where do i enter personal property taxes for my car.

i see the place to enter it for my airplane (lol) but not for my car.

Personal property tax is imposed on movable things (mobile homes, RVs, vehicles, etc.) whereas real estate "property" tax is imposed on immovable assets such as houses and land. Real estate tax is entered in a different place in the program.

To enter your personal property tax, do this:

1. Open your return, if you're not already in it.
2. Search inside your program for personal property taxes (use this exact phrase) and then select the Jump to link at the top of your search results.
3. Answer Yes to Did you pay personal property taxes in 2020?
4. Enter the amount you paid on the next screen and continue.

If you're talking about the CD/Download version, installed on your computer, you can enter your personal property taxes using the steps listed below.

Taxes on your car are considered personal property taxes -- not to be confused with property (or real estate) taxes).  Make sure you enter them in the correct area of TurboTax.

Personal property taxes are entered on Schedule A as itemized deductions.   To enter these items TurboTax, please follow these steps:

1. Click on Federal  >  Deductions & Credits. 
2. Scroll to the Cars and Other Things You Own section and click on the Start/Update box next to Personal Property Taxes.
3. Click the Yes box on the next screen, Did you pay personal property taxes in 2020?
4. Enter the personal property tax on the next screen.

If you take the standard deduction instead of itemizing you will not receive a benefit from the entry.
