Where do I enter Other Foreign Unearned Income and Foreign Tax Refund?

You can use the following menu tabs in TurboTax to enter your foreign earned income:

  1. Federal
  2. Less Common Income
  3. Foreign Earned Income and Exclusion

For the foreign tax refund, you could net that from foreign taxes paid in the current year, or if that doesn't apply you would have to amend the return for the year it applied to and subtract it from the foreign taxes reported that year.

Thanks for your response. My apologies for the delay. I was checking for responses in another email account. I want to be consistent with my last few years of Returns which was filed by a CPA. This year I am doing it myself. My CPA's return copies have entries in Schedule 1 Line 8 for the last few years. I have the same scenario this year too and I am filing it myself. Hence can you tell me where to enter info in Turbo Tax that would populate line 8 of Schedule 1? My CPA had added a description "Other Foreign Unearned Income" to line 8 on Schedule 1. I am trying to replicate the same scenario

Thanks again

Yes, you may enter other income not reported on tax form W2 or 1099 Misc on line 8, Part3, Schedule 1 of form 1040.  Here the steps to enter Other Income on Schedule 1.

  1. Login to Turbo Tax.
  2. Jump to Personal Income under Income and Expenses
  3. Scroll all the way down until you get to Less Common Income, then click start next to Miscellaneous income, 1099-A, 1099-C.
  4. Scroll all the way down, and click start on Other reportalbe income.
  5. Next screen is OtherTaxable Income
