To enter your alimony payments:
You can deduct alimony paid to a former spouse as long the divorce or separation agreement is executed by December 31, 2018.
Alimony payments resulting from agreements executed after that date can no longer be deducted due to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) that Congress signed into law on December 22, 2017. The same holds true for agreements modified after 2018 if the new version specifically states that the TCJA treatment of nondeductible alimony payments now applies.
To enter alimony you paid last year in TurboTax, please take the steps below.

I'm using TT 2019 standard (not free) edition. I said yes I paid alimony, entered the amount, specified ex's ssn, specified a divorce date in 2013, it says I'm not eligible to deduct alimony. IRS says even if I have to take standard deduction, I should be able to deduct alimony paid. What's the deal?

If you are using any of the online editions for 2019, entering Alimony Paid in the Deductions and Credits/Other Deductions and Credits section of the program there is no error if you enter the recipient's name, Social Security number, amount paid and the Date of original divorce or separation agreement prior to 12/31/2018.
Be sure that the date is before 2018 AND the question that asks if the decree was modified after 2018 must be answered NO.
Aha!
The non-free download TT 2019 (V2019.41.8.190) doesn't pose "...the question that asks if the decree was modified after 2018" .
All it has is name of recipient, amount, recipient ssn and date of divorce or separation.
There's the bug.
Thanks for letting me know.

It does for me - see screenshots below:
Delete and re-enter.
I don't know, I entered all the appropriate information which is prior to 2018. It still did not make the deduction.
Your alimony payments will not show up as a deduction but will be reported on line 31 in Schedule 1 on your return. It appears as an Adjustment to Income rather than a deduction.
Thank you. This program should be automatically opening the sub-window to the form(s) where information may be entered and the deduction appears when completed. Not very user-friendly if one has to go search and use this forum.

I totally agree!!!!!! There is nothing in the mac download that asks for alimony. You have to go find it in forms and enter it manually!!!

To enter alimony paid -
Or enter alimony paid in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to alimony paid
Alimonies for divorces and separations finalized after 2018 are no longer taxable or deductible.

You do not need to enter it manually. It is in "Deductions & Credits".
