Where do I check off that we are volunteer firemen on our Louisiana tax return?

An exclusion of $500 per tax year for individuals who serve as volunteer firefighters.

To qualify for this exclusion, the taxpayer must complete 24 hours of continuing education and be an active member of the Louisiana State Fireman’s Association or on the departmental personnel roster for the State Fire Marshal’s Volunteer Fireman’s Insurance Program.

In TurboTax, please do the following:

  • States Taxes
  • You will prompted to answer a few questions.
  • Any Other Income Exclusions? page, Select Description, 14E- Volunteer firefighter, please see attached photo.

The instructions intended to include a picture of the drop down menu under the state of Louisiana tax return.

The page is titled Any other income exclusions?

Under the drop down menu, select 14E Volunteer Firefighter.
