When self-employed, can you take standard mileage deduction and claim depreciation the first year you claim the vehicle?

Unfortunately, you can't.

You can either claim the standard mileage deduction, or use the actual cost method, which includes depreciation.  Please see the AnswerXchange FAQ below for more information.
