The mortgage
insurance deduction originally expired on December 31, 2016. It was then
extended for 2017 by the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018 signed on February 9,
2018.
This is why your form 1098 did not have the mortgage insurance in box 5. You can deduct the amount shown in your loan documents.
TurboTax has been
updated to allow the deduction of mortgage insurance.
