I am using the Desktop Software for 2022 and beyond. In the Dependent Care section, there is a box for the EIN but not the TAX ID number. When you finalize this area, the TAX ID column shows as existing but there was never a way to enter anything into it.

Are you preparing a 2022 tax return. Each tax year has its own version of TurboTax and you have to use the correct year. The Tax ID is the EIN number; they are interchangeable. You have to enter the tax ID for the provider of the care.
Thanks for the reply. I am using Turbo Tax Desktop for 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. (catching up on a lot!!!)
The way the form printed out after the data entry was done made it appear as if the Tax ID and the EIN were two different things. I just entered the Tax ID number where the EIN entry box was and I am hoping for the best.
If you entered the Tax ID number from the provider, it will work!
