It depends on what you are talking about. Would you provide more information clarifying what this is in reference to?
Thanks, Dave. After I've gone through the first three sections (Income & Expenses, Deductions & Credits, Other Tax Situations) and I'm early in "Federal Review," I encounter the screen shown below.
I don't know what to do here. I've already stepped through entering information on my Consulting Services work in my Turbotax 2020. I think it's complete. I earned money for that work. I submitted that information.
The screen explains, "We'll take you where you need to go." Sounds good. So I click the "Update now" button. Turbotax takes me back into my income section where my Consulting Services information is located. But from there, it offers me no prompts. No clues. Nothing is flagged as incomplete or requiring answers. If I then click "done" and return to the federal review, it brings the same screen back up and I follow the same loop. I'm stuck.
It looks like you indicated that you do not work in a Consulting Business. You need to go back and edit your answers to get rid of this error message. Let's see what we can do. I assume you are working in Turbo Tax Self-employed judging by your screen.
Sorry, Dave. Just getting back to your message. We were granted an even longer extension in Texas, and I took advantage of that.
Update on my issue...
I went through our self-employment income (Took some time. My wife had four different businesses running this year), and couldn't find anything that matched your description. No jobs that we ceased working in 2020.
With that said, when I returned to my federal review section, this time it offered a little more info than before. I guess Turbotax updated their program? This time TurboTax pointed me to a missing "Misc Exp" entry (or what it thought was a missing entry). I simply deleted this Misc Exp section and the program then advanced me to a second issue -- the dreaded "Sch SE-S: Max deferral line 18 must be entered." After wading through the many, many community messages on this specific issue, I finally found KathrynG3's great solution. Do nothing. And that seemed to work for me. I just left the line blank. Didn't impact a Turbotax self-audit. Didn't impact my return. So, I was finally able to file!
Thank you for the help! Just wanted you to know how this was eventually resolved.
