I entered 8K for me and 8K for my wife, software said congratulations, you reduced your tax liability by xxx dollars but did not increase my refund. When I ran the check, it showed errors for missing entries on the IRA wks. When I manually entered the numbers, et voila, the refund increased by the correct amount. The software is not populating the form correctly.

You are correct. TurboTax Home & Business currently has a bug in its IRA contribution calculator in step-by-step mode. The forum monitors have been made aware of this problem.
I got this issue too. When will TurboTax fix this bug?
Similar/same problem: I entered my IRA contribution and it reduced the tax liability. When I entered for wife, for between Jan-Apr 2026, it did not. I changed the entry as if the contribution was made in 2025 and it reduced the tax liability correctly. Hopefully this gets fixed before I file.
This has been fixed and works well in TurboTax Desktop Home & Business. Be sure you have updated your software using the information below.
For TurboTax Online do the following: Try clearing the cookies and cache. It handles many issues that seem nonsensical on a regular basis with online activity. Watch to be sure you are selecting 'all time' as example. Do not use selections like 'last hour' for those browsers that give you options.
Once this is complete open your return and try again.
Please update here if you need additional assistance.
