Third Stimulus Check

In 2020, I filed my taxes as head of household, with my dependent daughter.

In 2021, I received the 3rd economic impact payment check for $2,800 and letter 6475 reflects this value.

On the 2021 tax return, I am filing single with no dependents as my daughter had a job and she is also filing single.

I'm not sure how to answer in this section when you ask… Did I get the third check?

Considering the amount, which was 2,800 for 2 people.

Can I put 1400 in each statement? How does the IRS view this?

Third Stimulus Check

You should answer that you received $2,800. You do not have to repay the share of your daughter that you received in 2021.

Your daughter on her own tax return will say that she received $0 and she will receive $1,400 as the Recovery rebate credit which is added to her refund.

This is how the tax law is written.
