Can you decline the Minnesota Child and Working Family Credit?
Why is the credit showing for you?
Thank you Sabrina. I have one last question. Here is my situation. We have 1 child dependent age 2. My girl makes over 100k so she does NOT qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) from the federal. I made less than 65k so I qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit. My partner is claiming the child tax credit. Here is the screenshot.
On the 1st picture on the federal part everything it says is correct, yes I do not want to claim my child due to my partner claiming. But on the 2nd and last picture on my State Taxes, it says Minnesota Credits, Child and Working Family Credits balance $2,110. I do NOT want that because my partner is claiming the child tax credit. When I try to edit. It just says Good News! Your 2024 Minnesota Child and Working Family Credits is $2,110? I don't understand.
What is going on? Here is the picture.

MN has a variety of credits. The working family credit is based on your income and household size. This is different from child tax credit. The screen is combining credits. Your child should be zero. See Credits for more information and qualifications. It could be the entire amount is your working family credit.
View your return to verify which credits are used and the amounts. To see your forms:
If your child should have no affect on your return, remove them from your return.
