Hello,

Yes - you can.

You can include in medical expenses amounts you pay for eyeglasses and contact lenses needed for medical reasons.  You can also include the cost of equipment and materials required for using contact lenses, such as saline solution and enzyme cleaner.

Hello,

Yes - you can.

You can include in medical expenses amounts you pay for eyeglasses and contact lenses needed for medical reasons.  You can also include the cost of equipment and materials required for using contact lenses, such as saline solution and enzyme cleaner.

The answer needs to provide more detail such as what section of TurboTax to enter the information.  The Eyewear Expenses section gives examples of deductible expenses but, inexplicably, does not list lenes, frames or contacts.

Section A / Medical Expenses is allowed but what Agent above did not mention is that is it very difficult!   Tax Code says you CAN deduct IF this is 10% or more of your gross income.   Glasses are expensive but probably not that expensive... so you better have other Medical expenses listed or you will not be able to keep this as a valid allowance; especially if audited !
