Tax Filing for Deceased's House Sold in Probate

My mother passed in 2024 with no estate or will. I was granted executor under probate and sold her house. The proceeds were used to pay her outstanding bills and final moneys are going to be split 50/50 with my brother in soon. Do I need to file 2024 taxes for the proceeds of the house sale under the estate created under probate?

You would only have to file a federal estate tax return if the value of the estate in 2024 exceeded $13,610,000.  You will want to check state tax filing requirements.  You will of course, be required to file the probate reports with the probate court.

I am sorry for your loss.

Thank you so much for your condolences and quick reply. The estate worth is significantly lower than that so seems I am ok to not worry about taxes. Appreciate your help!
