Do I get a tax credit for purchasing a hybrid car in 2022?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
It depends on the vehicle you purchased and whether the manufacturer had reached their limits for manufacturing prior to your purchase date.
You can go through the Energy-Efficient Vehicles section of TurboTax to enter your information and see if you qualify for the credit. The qualifications and eligible manufacturers are built into the program and it will tell you if you qualify or not.
Alternatively, take a look at the following TurboTax help article and the Federal Tax Credits information supplied by the US Department of Energy to look up your vehicle and possible credit:

TURBO TAX ALSO DOES NOT HAVE ANY SOLUTION TO THIS BECAUSE THEY HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO SUPPORT WHAT-SO-EVER......ITS ALL A BIG RUN AROUND.........GIVING THE 24 HOURS TO RESPOND TO AN EMAIL.....IF NOT...I AM RETURNING MY CD AND PURCHASING THE HR BLOCK TAXES SO I CAN DO MY TAXES.

There WERE some changes to the EV credit in 2022.
If you give us specific details about your problem, maybe somebody could help you.
But you are perfectly welcome to try another company.
Articles a million of them ....explain and give great details. But TurboTax is incorrect, they failed to update properly. Its needs to be updated.
When you go into the Credit for EV vehicles it asks model & Year all fine....the only difference between last year and this year are a few vehicles. Tax Year 2021Forms I am telling you ....the area that you put in the purchase date (must be before 2022) ------this is because before 2022 it is the current tax year 2021 & below that it states Date you started using this car........THEN go to Tax Year 2022 this tax season & look at that same area, it reads the same as last year....... the date purcahsed (must be before 2022) & the following line says Date you started using this car. IMPOSSIBLE to do.....you'd have to put in dates out of the tax year....it works if you do it but I am sure the IRS will catch it and kick it back. I am doing my taxes without wanting your representation which I don't need but your forcing me to have to spend the extra money to have your reprensentation for your mistake. So I mention that I'll have to purchase another company's software to be able to complete my taxes correctly....and you respond thats ok if I want to do that but then I am out the purchase price because the place I purchased it will not refund my money because I've downloaded 1 copy.....So needless to say I and alot of other people have the right to be upset. So just please have 1 software person review and correct. And don't send me links to articles.....its not the articles....its the software.
What exactly are the dates you purchased it and the date you started using the car?
It is difficult to read your post, but if I'm reading it right, it only seems to be a typographical error in the program that they just forgot to update the year in the question.
