stimulus payments

I am ready to file my taxes.   Danielle [removed], soc [removed]. I received a stimulus payment for $408.65 in 2020, and I received a stimulus payment on March 23, 2021.  I did not receive a third stimulus payment.  The tax question asked if I received a third payment in early 2021.  I said I did not get a third payment and took credit for $1400. on my taxes.  Do I claim the third payment as received - since I got the second payment in March 2021?  I want to put the correct info and it did not ask how many stimulus payments I got in total.  Trying to avoid incorrect filing.  Please email me at

[email address removed].  Thank you.

stimulus payments

When you are being asked about the 3rd stimulus payment they are asking if you received the EIP payment for $1400 per person.   That is the ONLY one you are being asked about for the recovery rebate credit on your 2021 return.   You are not being asked about that first one for $1200 or the 2nd one for $600.   Those had to go on your 2020 tax return.

If you do not know then check your bank records from about mid-March 2021 onward for a deposit of $1400 per person, or check your online account with the IRS.  Did you receive letter 6475 from the IRS?   They sent you that letter if you got the 3rd EIP payment.
