you would only be taxed if you contributed an excess amount. we can't see your tax return or form 8889 which you need to review to make sure you answered the questions correctly. if you contribute directly, an HSA contribution would be a deduction on schedule 1 line 12.
did you get a w-2 and is there anything in box 12 with code W. that's what the employer made on your behalf which reduces the amount you can contribute personally?
