Should my tax owed increase with the entry of my wife's HSA account?

It depends on what you entered.

In the normal case, HSA contributions are tax-free and the distributions are tax-free, but we have no idea what you entered on your return. Remember that we at AnswerXchange cannot see your tax return nor the screen that you are on.

Please tell us the following:

1. your HDHP coverage (Family or Self)

2. your spouse's HDHP coverage

3. your code W amount on the W-2

4. your spouse's code W on the W-2

5. your direct contributions to the HSA (not through the employer)

6. your spouse's contributions to the HSA (not through the employer)

7. any carryover of excess contribution from 2017 for either of you
