I tried to recreate your situation and my $15,000 IL property tax payment, that I entered on the TurboTax federal side, flowed to my IL state tax return.
Review your IL state return entries. Make sure you entered the correct responses on the Credit for property taxes screen.
thanks for the help. I did check and i selected all of those as well.
are you able to take a look at my particular situation here.
1060820.
on my federal side, it shows X for property taxes paid.
on the state side, it's showing way less than X for property taxes paid as seen from the federal return.
thanks!
I'm afraid that this isn't an error anyone else is dealing with and I can't duplicate it. I am going to recommend that you delete your state return and then re-enter it. I hope that will fix the issue. Some input is crossed somewhere.
Hello! I restarted my state return, and it's still showing the lower amount for my property taxes paid when i pull info over from my federal return. Is there any help that I can get on resolving this?
I pulled your file and your property tax paid is showing as $23,578. The Illinois property tax credit is 5% of that and I'm showing you're getting a credit of $1,179, which is 5% 0f the total you paid. All looks correct to me. What is the amount that you are seeing and how is it different from that?
It's $13042 property taxes paid on my federal, but my state is only showing that i paid $10536 which is reducing my property tax credit on my illinois state return. Still not fixed by erasing the state and starting over. 1064187 is my code if anyone can take a look at why it's doing that.
To clarify, what is the property tax credit listed in your Schedule ICR?
10536 is listed as the property tax, which is wrong, it is supposed to be 13042.
Your federal tax return shows the property tax that you paid is $23,578. That is the sum of $10,536 and $13,042. You need to go back through your federal property tax and see why there is a discrepancy on your federal return with what you think it should be and then figure out what is carrying over to the state return.
