I need to confirm if eligible. My parents filed jointly in 2020 but he later passed away. My Mom can't find letter 6475 so created IRS online account. It doesn't give me this letter or 1444-C notice. I only found under "Tax Records" for 2021, and type is "Economic Payment 3" that amount is $0.00. She is eligible based on the rules, but without that letter 6475 to confirm, I'm concerned that IRS will reject the tax return. She had problems with the 1st & 2nd when we tried to get the rebate on the 2020 taxes and took 4 months to resolve with IRS! We already checked her bank accounts and don't find the $1400.00 between March - May 2021. Thus, can I use the Tax Records information as my confirmation that I can take the recovery rebate credit? Thank you.

Yes, she does not have to file Letter 6475; it is just to confirm what payments were sent. Some taxpayers did not actually receive payments or forgot the amount. If the IRS account says 0.00 and her financial records show 0.00, the please do enter that into the return. Last year the IRS was beginning new processes for stimulus payments and hopefully things will be much smoother this year. I am deeply sorry for her loss and please let us know if we can be of any additional assistance.
Thanks for the quick response. So in turbo tax, I should respond "no" when it ask me: Did you get a third stimulus payment? If so, this will show $1400 on the recovery rebate credit amount on the 1040 form.
The L6475 isn't necessary to figure the 3rd EIP. there seems to be some inconsistent advice on IRS.Gov. Not being certain when your father passed this info might be helpful.
Here is the answer to QC11:
A11. An individual who died in 2021 or in 2022 and did not receive the full amount of the third Economic Impact Payment may be eligible for the 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit if the individual met the eligibility requirements while alive.
An individual who died prior to January 1, 2021 does not qualify for the 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit.
Thanks for the quick response. My father died in Dec 2020 and they filed joint then. Now my Mom will file single. So are you saying that she isn't qualified for the recovery rebate credit?
She can get the 1,400 Recovery Rebate Credit for herself if she didn't get it last year starting in March. I would double check her bank accounts.
Oh I wanted to say, maybe she didn't get the separate 3rd Stimulus payment because their 2020 return was too high?
My mother died in 2020 and father filed a Joint 2020 return and he got the 1,400 3rd Stimulus payment in 2021.
Turbo tax software says she's entitled to it and I doubled checked her statements so thank you for clarifying. I'm sorry for your loss too!
And father died in July! What a bunch of paper work. Dealing with final return and setting up aTrust. It's been a full time job. Actually they were my husbands parents.
