The IRS does not contact taxpayers by email. They send a letter in the regular postal mail. If you got an email that says it's from the IRS, it's a scam.
The following is from the IRS instructions for Form 1040.
"If you receive an unsolicited email claiming to be from the IRS, forward the message to phishing@irs.gov. For more information, go to IRS.gov/Phishing."
Is $45,xxx.xx what's showing on your 2024 return's Schedule A for mortgage interest? If not, ignore the rest of this post. Only 3 parties should know the amount. You from the 1098, the mortgage company that issued the 1098 and the IRS that gets a copy. If some other party knows the number you entered, there is a problem.
By the way if the only mortgage you had in 2024 was the $650K, the interest should be fully deductible.
