Why is my child tax credit only $135 when I’m single and have two children

The Child Tax Credit can't be any larger than your assessed tax. Look at line 18 on your 1040. Is it $135?

On the other hand, parents are frequently eligible for the Additional Child Tax Credit if they can't get the whole Child Tax Credit of $2,000.

Look at line 28 on the 1040 and see if there is an amount there for Additional Child Tax Credit.
