The KS Department of Revenue states the following with regard to the child dependent care credit:
"This credit is available to residents only - nonresidents and part-year residents are not eligible. Multiply amount of credit allowed on (federal Form 2441) by 25% and enter the result on line 14." (underline and bolded text added)
One option is to check your residency status for KS to ensure that you have entered the correct residency status. Another option is to check your KS tax liability. The KS dependent care credit reduces a KS tax liability; however, if there is no KS tax liability, the child and dependent care credit may not be included on your return.
