After entering actual expenses, the software may have determined that you receive a higher deduction by claiming actual expenses. Were actual expenses entered including depreciation on the vehicle?
Did you see a screen titled You get a bigger deduction by using your actual expenses?
That screen will give you the option to elect the standard mileage rate method.
Yes I get to that screen, select the dot for actual but when I compare my total job expenses, it reflects the standard mileage rate. Also when there’s the sentence that says it’ll help my federal tax, it’s doesn’t say that but “XX” instead
You may not be qualified to use the actual expenses. For example, if you have a leased car and used standard mileage last year, you would need to use standard again this year. Please verify that you can use actual expenses at Topic No. 510 Business Use of Car | Internal Revenue Service.
See also IRS Publication 463 Car Expenses.
If you do qualify, you will need product support to help with the tech issue. Fill out the correct program info for you at What is the Turbo Tax phone number?
