total of payments and withholdings

I am trying to figure out how the box for "total of all your payments and withholdings" under Personal income- refund is populated. I applied my 2020 return to 2021 and made 3 estimated tax payments in 2021.  Those figures along with the w-2 state and local withholdings is not the same as the amount as the populated box.

If I pull up the "tax payments" worksheet those figures are all listed on the form and total $1323 more than what is being populated in the box.  Is something being deducted from that box? Where can I find what is included in that calculation?

thanks!

I took a screenshot so you can see what is on the worksheet- is it the local taxes?

No, I thought it would be from this worksheet as well but the totals ( state, local, estimated taxes, and refund applied to next year's taxes) do not add up to the same amount that is showing in the populated box.  I even tried removing variations of the included (above) and I still can not come up with the populated number.

Would anything be deducted from this calculation?

The information you see regarding your state refund on 1099-G comes from last year's tax payments and withholdings.   The help link explains ''Add up any payments you made to your state or locality, along with any state or locality withholdings from the previous tax year''.     You are asked this to determine whether or not your state refund is taxable on this year's return.   If you itemized last year, it isn't.   If you filed with TurboTax last year, that box is auto-populated with last year's amounts.

See this link - the highlighted sentence refers to the questions you are being asked on this return.

Wow! Thank you so much. I have spoken with 2 people at Turbo tax with screen shadowing and a diagnostic because they could not determine where the figures were coming from.  Previous tax year's withholdings 2020 and estimates. Correct form, wrong year.

Thank you for clarifying
