stimulis interest overpayment refund

We filed our taxes on 3/17/21.  At that time the program showed our owing $1579.00.  We filed on line and that amount was taken from our checking account.

Then with some sort of IRS update, we really only owed $335.00.  Therefore, we are owed an over-payment of

$1245.00.

When will we expect to receive this amount?  On social security, so that amount is huge and I really need it back.

Please reply.

You have to find out what changed.  Did you get any unemployment?  There was a big change on that.   Where is it showing the 335?  You need to print out the current return and compare it to the one that was filed.

You do not say what other income you received or what "IRS update" changed your tax due/refund amount.  Did you receive unemployment that tax was withheld from?   Provide some more specific information so we know how to help.  But please do not post your personal information.

as to when if your numbers are correct and it relates to the non-taxability of Unemployment Compensation it can take the IRS a month to more than 3 months (this will take the IRS through the summer to complete) . the refund would be done automatically by the IRS. It does not want an amended return. if it's for something else you may not get a refund until you file an amended return and that refund also takes months. you need to determine what changed.

this is a public forum and we have no access to your return.
