Standard deduction for Federal and Itemized deduction for State (Oregon) - tax year 2020

Hi all.

I selected Standard Deduction for Federal, and would like to select Itemized deduction for State (Oregon), but Turbotax is not allowing me to do this. Last year's Turbotax could do this last year.

Thanks!
Alan

You should not have to select itemized, TurboTax should recognize if your itemized deductions exceed the Oregon standard deduction.  Your Oregon return will recognize that your itemized deductions are more than your standard deduction and generate an OR-A form in your Oregon return.

You can also look on your Oregon Form 40 and look at lines 16 & 17.  Line 16 is the itemized deductions you recorded in your federal return and line 17 reports the Standard Deduction.  Whichever line is largest is reported as a deduction on Line 18 of the Oregon Form 40.

How to get TurboTax to itemize deductions for Oregon when I take the standard deduction for Federal

Standard deduction for Federal and Itemized deduction for State (Oregon) - tax year 2020

On my Oregon return, TurboTax chose the higher standard deduction for me over the lower itemized deduction. But, if I am reading the Oregon instructions right, since I am MFS and my spouse itemized on his Oregon return, it looks like the standard deduction should be $0 and I should choose to itemize. Am I looking at this incorrectly or has TurboTax chosen the wrong deduction for me on my Oregon return?
