Last year I got a check in the mail as a healthy living incentive associated with my health insurance, and the accompanying letter said that it was taxable. However, I was never mailed a Form 1099-MISC for this. How do I report this with Turbotax? I attempted to start a Form 1099-MISC and the first question was "Did you get a 1099-MISC?" and the answer of course is that I did not. If I answer no, it asks me no more questions and returns me to the previous page. If I answer yes, I leave the payer's id number blank and type in $0.01 as "other income" (it won't let me continue if I type in $0.00). Only then does the system prompt me to enter in the amount I received as a personal check that wasn't on a tax form, which I do. Going back to the main page, that amount now shows up under "other self-employed income" even though I did not earn any income through self-employment and I did not intend to report it that way.
Would it be better to have entered the actual amount I received on the Form 1099-MISC as if I had actually received such a form?

Thank you! That was surprisingly straightforward.
Your "work around" on entering 1099-MISC income without an EIN# was a huge help!
I was stuck and unable to move forward with TurboTax until I found your solution
Thank you!
How was this a work around? I'm still getting asked for payers EIN when I enter as Other Income.
You need to be in Other Self-Employment Income. You are trying to enter it in Other Common Income, which requires an EIN. You have to go to Schedule C - Self-Employment Income, and from there go to Self-Employment Other Income. The section you are in is not for self-employment income; it is for 1099 common income. @sheila_0622
Yes I am. Schedule C Self Employment Other Income!!!
Do not try to enter the 1099-MISC. If you did try to enter one you should delete it. Once you have it deleted follow the steps provided by @DawnC above and printed here for you:
You'll need to delete this Form 1099-MISC--------------------.
I deleted it and started over. It still NEEDS REVIEW at the end but I was told I can ignore the review and leave the EIN blank. Thank you and @DawnC
