Not getting HSA credit I expected?

I am the owner of a family HSA for my wife and I.

I entered $8300 (both over 55) for 2022

I said my wife did NOT have an HSA (she's covered by mine)

The 1099-SA showed $11,339 for distributions (which were for both of us but is in my name)

We are both covered by a joint HDHP for all 12 months (the 1095A has not been entered yet)

I only get a $3818 deduction in my taxes owed?

Isn't it a credit?  Shouldn't I get $8300?  Jeez, my memory is terrible!

Thanks, I realized the ridiculousness of the question after I had posted it.
