If you have just opened a HSA in 2020, you can still contribute to it for tax year 2019 until April 15, 2020 if you satisfy the requirements for a HSA in 2019. Make sure that you inform the HSA administrator that the contribution is for tax year 2019.

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can help me with this but I'm trying to figure out where on form 1040 or Schedule C I find Credits for line 7 for form 1040ES.  Would these be on line 18 (Payments) from form 1040?

@rogo2020   Do you need to enter estimated payments you made?

For 2019 Estimated payments should be on schedule 3 line 8

And go to 1040 line 18d.

You can type estimates paid in the search box at the top of your return and click Find and it will give you a link to Jump To it.

OR

To enter Federal or State Estimated Taxes Paid, including a state estimated payment made in January for the prior year, go to

Federal on left or at top.  Personal (Home & Business)

Deductions and Credits at top

Then scroll way down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid

Estimated Taxes - click the start button

sorry, I think I may have worded that wrong. I'm trying to complete 1040ES for 2019. On line 7- "Credits (see instructions). Do not Include any income tax withholding on this line", I'm just trying to figure out if this would be the same entry line as #18 on form 1040. My husband and I file jointly and I just became a freelancer beginning in 2019, so this is all new to me. Thanks again for your previous response!

Line 7. Credits. See the 2018 Form 1040, line 12a and Schedule 3 (Form 1040), lines 48 through 51, 53, and 54,
and the related instructions for the types of credits allowed.
