My employer directly paid mortgage points to my lender for my new home. The points paid on the purchase of my principal residence was reported on Form 1098. Are these points paid tax deductible?

If these mortgage points were included as part of your taxable wage income (Box 1 of W-2) on your W-2, then you will be able to claim the deduction on Schedule A. If they were not included as part of your taxable wage income then you will not be able to claim the deduction.
