I'm entering my home office expenses (vs. using the standard) and the boxes are all for 2020. Should I be going back? Why are they not 2021 boxes?

When I'm entering in home office information (mortgage interest, utilities, etc) the box to enter is labeled 2020. It has 2019 in, and then box is 2020 (not 2021). I'm not sure if I should go back? Enter 2021 there anyway? Not sure if this is a bug/glitch?

Thank you.

Do we know WHEN this might happen? Any kind of timeline? Frustrating to not be able to file...

@mysgyn

Income and expense flow to the 2021 1040 tax return appropriately.  Are you able to confirm this at Tax Tools / Tools / View Tax Summary / Preview my 1040?

I'll have to check... I've been avoiding entering anything until it's fixed.

I'll check it next time I'm on....

I see the section for 1040, what am I looking for to make sure it propagates in correctly?

Regardless of the issue with the dates.  It sounds like your trying to include a Home Office in your itemized deductions.

  • This is no longer allowed.
  • If you have a business, you can include it in the business and allocate your mortgage interest and property taxes to it.
  • Unreimbursed business expenses are no longer included on Schedule A Itemized Deductions.
