I paid $2,600 to have my home's HVAC duct air-sealed. I was told that this allowed me to take a tax credit on my 2024 taxes. Is that on the Federal or State Taxes? I am using 2024 Turbo Tax Deluxe for Windows 10.
Am I eligible for a Tax Credit?
Where do I enter the tax credit? I was given the IRC 24C Energy Efficient Home Improvement Tax Credit.
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
You should be eligible for a Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit of up to $1,200 on your federal tax return when an air sealing material was used.
To enter Home Energy Credits -
Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
Click on Deductions and Credit
Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
Under Your Home
On Home Energy Credits, click the start or update button
Or enter energy improvements in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to energy improvements
NOTE - Using the TurboTax 2024 desktop editions the Home Energy Credit section has not yet been updated for tax year 2024. It will be updated with a future software release. You can sign up to be emailed when the section is available.
Thank you for your reply to my question.
How do I now sign up to be emailed when the section is available since you wrote It will be updated with a future software release.
You will need to go to the Home Energy Credit section of the program. Start the section and on the second screen will be the notice that the section is not yet available and a link you can click on to be informed by email when you can complete the section.
