Form 7205 Energy Efficient Commercial Buildings Deduction

Solved:

I am using TurboTax Home and Business 2023 on a Mac

To solve this, I went to Business Expenses, the page where you enter in Advertising, Business Travel, etc. A little bit down on that list you will find "Energy Efficient Buildings". Select Update and delete the 0 amount. 

This is done in the "step by step" view of Turbo Tax, NOT in the Forms view.

This worked for me and I was able to e-file the Federal return.

I had a similar problem. When I spoke with a turbo tax rep, we were able to fix the problem this way:

Go to "All Other Expenses" under "Business Expenses."

At the bottom of the page there is a zero entered in the box that says "Energy Efficient Buildings."

Delete that zero so that the box is empty (no zero, no anything - just blank.)

Then try to efile.

Worked for me!

I did this, Big Hoss, and I still can't e file my Federal return because if says some forms are needed which can't be e filed but it won't tell me which one(s).

I have the Home and Business and can't get rid of the form 7205 malarky even though I was able to delete the zero. It keeps telling me that I can't e file because some forms can't be e filed but it won't tell me which ones.

Hey everyone ! I just figured out how to eliminate the Form 7205 and not being able to e file problem. Completely shut down your computer and then start your Turbo Tax. An update will come up which you install and relaunch TT. I did this and was able to re file. It would have been nice if Turbo Tax notified us all of the update so we wouldn't be pulling out our hair (those of us who have hair left !) to fix this problem !

Try running the final error check and see if it identifies the forms or errors. It may probably be the same issue with a Zero automically placed in the answer that needs to be deleted. Then you will need to do some investigation and find out where those items are, and erase the Zeros.

That's not the issue. There is an update that TT just put out that you have to install and the problem is solved. If you have a Mac computer just shut it down and restart it. Open TT and the update will come up. Install it and the  issue of Form 7205 and not being able to e file will go away. It did for me, anyway. I e filed my return and it was accepted.

So many people are having this problem but I was reading some of the post and rhey said turbo tax sent an up date and fixed this issue. I figured this out a while ago and I posted for everyone to see, on someone else's post.

That's right, BH. But if you have a Mac computer the only way you can find out about the update is to shut down your computer and restart it. When you start up your TT program the update will then come up. I found out about this when my cat stepped on the off button and shut my computer down !

I don't have the Energy Efficient Commercial Buildings Deduction under Other Expenses.  I don't even see a Form 7205 listed anywhere.  Using Turbo Tax Business.

I had the same thing, Ed. I have a Mac computer and out of frustration I just shut the whole thing off and restarted it. I then opened up Turbo Tax and an update appeared. I downloaded the update and relaunched Turbo Tax and the Form 7205 issue went away and I was able to e file.

Praise the Lord, Mr. j. And thank my cat for accidentally stepping on the power key on my Mac and when I restarted it the update came up !  I wouldn't have known about this otherwise ! 😻
