Preschool and ESS fees

Hi -

One of my kids went to preschool last year (fee based) and other kid went to ESS (after school care) for the school year as well as summer camp organized by ESS (summer). Can i claim the fees paid for both preschool and ESS in my tax return? I was not enrolled in Dependent Care FSA in 2019.

Thanks

Preschool and ESS fees

If the primary reason was so that both kids would be watched after while the parents worked, then it's a valid childcare expense if the children were under the age of 13 on Dec 31 of the tax year.

Note that both parents (if married) must have taxable income in order to qualify for the childcare deduction. The maximum deduction per qualifying child is $3000.
