You will want to show zero (0) as the year-end balance for the first servicer of the mortgage. Only show a year-end balance for the current (as of 12/31) servicer of the mortgage. Be certain to report the correct mortgage interest and, if shown on Form 1098, real estate taxes paid to/through each loan servicer.

Some users of our TurboTax Deluxe product are reporting difficulty entering their property taxes. Should you encounter such an issue, please read the following:

If you are using the Deluxe version of either TurboTax Online or CD/Download, you may encounter a problem entering your 2018 property taxes.

To enter your amounts:

  • Go to Deductions & Credits.
  • Scroll to Property Taxes.

For tax years 2018 through 2025, all state and local taxes, including property taxes, are capped at $10,000 ($5,000 if married filing separately).
