I receive a W2 for non-qualified pension income each year, and up until this year TurboTax always put it on line 1a of the 1040. This year (after searching) I found it on Schedule 1. Then I looked at past year IRS instructions and found out it always belonged on Schedule 1. Was this a bug fix this year and are there any implications for past returns? Also, my W2 had the amounts listed in the State boxes, but didn't list the State Employer ID because my state has no income taxes. I tried entering all blanks but Turbo tax was forcing me to input something causing an error in the review stage. I finally but 0 in instead of blanks (even though Turbo tax instructions were to put blanks) and it was accepted.
