We had our first baby end of June 2021. How do we add a dependent to get payments?  Do we have to wait until the portal updates in late summer as it states? 

also, are payments for the unemployment tax credit still being sent for those who filed jointly and filed prior to March 2021.

When they update it later this summer, you'll be able to add your new child on the IRS's Child Tax Credit Update Portal. Set an account up there now so you'll be ready to go when the time comes.

Regarding the unemployment tax credit, please post another question, as I'm not sure what you mean by this.

Yes ... the IRS expects the unemployment changes to take all summer to fully process ... all you can do is wait.
