Medical expenses "Needs review" endlessly

I've deleted the Medical Expenses Form two times and entered the info from scratch - and still the TurboTax shows me "Needs review" for this form. I don't know what is wrong with this form - the system doesn't show any error messages or something else, which could help. Also I tried two different browsers and deleted all cookies - no progress at all.

Please help!

Are you taking the standard deduction?   Medical expenses are an itemized deduction.   If you don't have more itemized deductions than your standard deduction, they don't affect your tax return.   Preview your 1040 and look on line 12 to see if the amount is the standard deduction.   If you are taking the standard deduction (not itemizing), you can ignore it; it won't prevent e-filing.

You can deduct (if you itemize) the amount of your medical expenses over 7.5% of your adjusted gross income.   If this amount combined with all of your other itemized deductions is more than your standard deduction, TurboTax will automatically make the switch and add Schedule A to your tax return.   If you are itemizing, you can view Schedule A - - the expenses are there even if that message is showing.

If you want to change to itemized deduction to see the difference and be able to view your medical expenses, follow the directions in this link.   But remember to change it back if your standard deduction is higher.   For most taxpayers, the standard deduction is the better option.   Once you confirm your deduction, the message should go away.

I switched to itemized deduction, and my federal tax due went up, and I tried to go through "Medical expenses" again (with the same numbers) - no way, I got the same "Needs review" as a result.

Once you clicked through all 11 medical expense categories, you should get a message that says either ''You are getting a medical deduction tax break'' OR ''The standard deduction is right for you''.    Once you click on DONE at the bottom of that screen, the ''Needs Review'' message should go away and the summary should show the total of what you entered in that section.

Please give feedback. If this helps click “Thumb” or “Best Answer” if it’s a solution.

@ee-ea:I switched back to standard deduction, went through 11 items you mentioned, got a message "Right now, the Standard Deduction saves you the most on taxes.". Then I clicked on the "Done" button and got the summary "Your tax breaks" page with "Needs review" for medical expenses exactly as before.

You can ignore the message and file your return if you have entered everything.   The message won't prevent e-filing and since you are taking the standard deduction, the Schedule A doesn't get sent with your tax return.

@DawnC - This error in the TurboTax website gives me a feeling, that something else inside it may be also incorrect. Deeply inside, calculations etc. Our income became 25% more, but our tax doubled. I think I won't file my taxes with the TurboTax anymore.

You can and should preview your tax return before you file.   Are you itemizing deductions or taking the standard deduction?   TurboTax has an accuracy guarantee and I can assure you that the ''needs review'' message is not affecting any calculations on your return.   If you look at Schedule A or the Medical Expenses Wks, you will see they reflect exactly what you entered.
